Potane Precision Vacuum Sealer Review: A Great Fit for Bulk Buying
Quick verdict
★★★★☆ 4/5 — After my previous food sealer finally failed after five years, the Potane Precision proved to be a very good replacement. It seals both dry and moist food better than my old machine, and its automatic mode makes portioning bulk purchases for the freezer easy.
Best for: People who buy in bulk and divide meat and other foods into smaller portions to freeze for later use.
At a glance
Potane Precision Pro food sealer, model VS5736, with a compact design.
Automatic and manual operation, with dry and moist food modes.
Built-in cutter and bag storage for rolls up to 20 feet long.
Includes two starter bag rolls: 11 inches × 16 feet and 8 inches × 16 feet.
My everyday choice is the automatic mode.
What I like
A worthwhile replacement. I bought this Potane after the food sealer I had used for five years finally stopped working. The Amazon reviews looked good, so I decided to try it. I have been pleased with the purchase.
Better seals on dry and moist food. In my experience, this machine does a better job sealing both types of food than the sealer it replaced. That is the part of the upgrade I notice most.
Automatic mode suits my routine. The machine offers automatic and manual options, but I use automatic. It fits the way I prepare food for storage without making the process complicated.
Perfect for warehouse-store shopping. I often buy in bulk at several warehouse stores, then break apart meats and other items into smaller portions to freeze. This sealer is perfect for that purpose.
Lower replacement-roll costs. The replacement bag rolls I buy for this machine cost less than the rolls for my previous sealer. For someone who regularly portions bulk purchases, that is a useful ongoing benefit.
Before you buy
My hands-on experience is with automatic operation; I have not based this review on extensive manual-mode testing.
Budget for replacement rolls as part of the ongoing cost. My cost comparison is with my previous sealer, and current prices may change.
The included rolls are 16 feet long. The replacement-roll link below is a separate six-pack containing three 11-inch × 20-foot rolls and three 8-inch × 20-foot rolls.
